Get Involved
An active volunteer network helps with:
- Birding: lead walks, maintain birdhouses
- Gardening: plant, mulch, weed, water
- Cleanups: remove debris and trash from trails, beaches, marshes
- Trail maintenance: mow grass, construct decks, boardwalks, and paths
- Surveys/monitoring: wintering waterfowl, invasives, water quality
- Hunting: assist with seasonal programs, check hunters in and out
- Environmental education at public events
- Coordinating activities at Refuge events

- Staffing the refuge bookstore
- Assisting with maintenance of the Butterfly Garden
- Becoming a Friends board member
- Becoming a Friends committee chair, such as membership or food at refuge events
- Purchasing equipment for use by the Refuge (such as the Trafx vehicle counters installed at several points on the main road)
